Batya Maman’s Social Connect Set to Sponsor Students’ Mission Giving Kids More Reasons to Read and Lead

Social media expert Batya Maman met recently with K is for Kids’ top teen leaders to show them how they can put social media to powerful use.

September 4, 2014, Naples ,FL — K is for Kids is thrilled to announce that Social Connect and the female force behind it, Batya Maman, has agreed to sponsor K is For Kids and help educate its teen leaders on the importance of social media in the promotion of any campaign.

“We are truly honored that Batya is donating her expertise to help mentor our student leaders in social media,” said Karen Clawson, Executive Director and Founder of K is for Kids, “and provide them strong communication tools that will benefit them both as a team and individually.  We are always seeking ways to help our student leaders achieve their goals academically and professionally even as they helping other students do the same.”

“With Batya’s expertise [our team] has a completely new outlook on social media as a whole,” said Nedgie Paul, Senior DOSA (Directorate of Student Agenda) member and a 12th grader at Palmetto Ridge High School. “Social media really is the future of communication and Batya is helping us discover how we can use this to our advantage.  Her enthusiasm and determination inspires me.”

At a recent K is for Kids student leadership meeting Maman began the first of a series of trainings she is providing for the teens. “The meeting was entertaining [and] I enjoyed it very much,” said Cameryn Anthony, a Gulf Coast HS Senior and DOSA member, “Batya made me realize that social media marketing can really help expose a business and increase opportunities.”

Through the afternoon overview of social media, Maman explained, with great passion and energy, the many platforms students could use to get the message out about K is for Kid’s mission to build readers and leaders.

Students were mesmerized by the presentation. Sandra Lovos, a DOSA leader from Palmetto Ridge High School said, “Being able to learn so much about something you don’t normally think twice about is always an enriching experience.”

“I’m very excited and happy to be a DOSA member. The first meeting with Batya was very interesting and we were so lucky to have her, “ said Krisha Mac,  DOSA leader from Lorenzo Walker Technical High School. “I was able to look at social media in a very different way. I can’t wait to learn more.”

Hadrien Roy, a senior student at Barron Collier High School, echoed the sentiment, “The meeting really opened my eyes to the bigger picture of how to get information to the public and make yourself known. Batya really impacted how I think about goals and overcoming difficulties. You can truly do anything if you put your mind to it. ”

Tyler Schult, also a Barron Collier High School senior, spoke about the using social media as an effective tool in communication.  “I thought the meeting was very informative and crucial to help all of us learn the importance of social media marketing. I’m excited to learn more about ways to help K is for Kids.”

Maman also expressed how excited she is to work with the teens. “I believe in giving back to the community in every way I can,” she said.

Here is how it work:  There are seven Calls to Action options; when users click one, it leads to an outside destination “that aligns with a business’s goals,” Facebook explained on its news blog. The new call-to-action buttons include the following:
